Carl Mroz passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on March 14, 1942, in Whitney Pier, Carl lived a life defined by devotion to family, quiet strength, and a deep love for the community he called home.
Carl was the beloved husband of Carmelita ‘Carmie’ Mroz, with whom he shared a lifetime of partnership, laughter, and unwavering support. Together they built a family rooted in love and resilience. He was a proud father to Raymond Mroz, Shayne Mroz, and Carla (Brad) Mroz, each of whom carries forward his kindness, humour, and steady guidance.
Carl was blessed with six grandchildren, Christopher, Anthony, Corey, Aisling, Reagan, and Sierra and two great grandchildren, Ronin, and Oliver, all of whom brought him immense joy. His face lit up whenever they entered the room, and he cherished every moment spent watching them grow.
Carl is predeceased by his parents, Mark and Blanche (Berger) Mroz, as well as his brothers, Leo Mroz, and Raymond Mroz. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Carl was a man of simple pleasures and steady commitments. He valued hard work, family gatherings, and the comfort of familiar routines. He also had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. Whether it was the companionship of a family pet curled up beside him or the strays he insisted on feeding, Carl’s gentle nature always shone through in the way he cared for them. His affection for cats became one of the small, tender trademarks of who he was.
Carl’s legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply, the animals he cared for, and the countless small moments of kindness he offered to others. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
There will be no visitation for the late Carl Mroz. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Polish Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Evo DiPierro officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations in memory of Carl may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
