The family of James Woodrow ‘Jim’ Dearing is announcing that Jim will be welcomed in heaven by his parents, Harold and Elizabeth Dearing. Jim will also be welcomed by his brothers, Crawford, Danny and Duke Dearing. Jim passed peacefully on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Jim was loved and respected by anyone who had the gracious opportunity to meet him. His smile made you smile and made your day. He is known for his love of cars and his adventures in life, but mostly Jim will always be remembered for his love of family. Jim had a natural spirit of being a loving and caring person.

Jim’s memories will always be dear to the mother of his children, Brenda Mintz; son, Michael (Brenda); daughter, Heather; children from his first marriage, Darlene, Janet and Jimmy Joe, all from Ontario; grandchildren, Matthew, Joshua (Cassidy), Zachary (Lauren), Jamie Lee and Bryden; siblings, Bobby, Sharon and Blair, who always stood by his side; as well as several nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation for the late Jim Dearing. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Jim, will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 1 p.m. in The Salvation Army, 40 Union Street, Glace Bay with Majors Rocky and Janice Bishop officiating. Private family interment will take place in Oakfield Cemetery, Marion Bridge, at a later date.

Donations in memory of Jim may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
