It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Joey Campbell on Friday, July 19, 2019 with his loving family by his side.

Joey was born on January 21, 1938 to the late Isabelle (Locke) and Colin Campbell. Born and raised in the beautiful community of Main-a-Dieu where he lived all of his life as a proud fisherman.

Joey enjoyed a good game of cards and could always be found sitting at the kitchen table enjoying Yvonne’s homemade bread with a good cup of tea.

Joey will be forever missed by his loving wife, Yvonne (Wadden) Campbell; daughter, Jacklin (Kenny), Dartmouth; son, Joe (Myrchal), Sydney; granddaughters, Jayme and “daughter”, Nicole (Chris) Coldbrook; grandson, Dennis (Taylor) and great-granddaughter, Paige. Joey is also survived by brothers, Jimmy, Halifax, Robbie (Loretta), Glace Bay, Andrew (Anna Mae), Wyse’s Corner, Victor (Donna), Marion Bridge, Tommy (Gwen), Raymond (Joanne), Frankie (Peggy), Dutch Settlement, John Hugh (Colleen), Catalone, Keith (Roseanne), Bateston, and Garfield (Tammy) Catalone Gut; sisters, Theresa, Main-a-Dieu, Margie, Newfoundland, and Alice, Louisbourg; sisters-in-law, Leonna, Annapolis Valley, Anita, Sydney, and Melba, Enfield; brother-in-law, Graham Bussey; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Joey was predeceased by his brothers, Jean David, Colin, Gregory, Steven, Peter and Selby; sisters, Melvina, Ada, Georgina and Pauline.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Joey Campbell will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier on Monday, July 22, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:30–12:30 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service.

Private family interment will take place at a later date.

Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Joey may be made to the Patient Care Fund.

The Family would like to thank all staff of Celtic Court, Sydney for their loving care and support shown to Joey during his time on Piper’s Lane.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
