It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Earle Rolls, age 89, on Monday, February 27, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on December 20, 1927 in Sydney, Earle was the son of the late Stewart and Gwendolyn (Apblett) Rolls. Earle was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Earle was a very gentle and kind man, who loved the simple things in life. He worked many years at the steel plant and at the same time provided for his family. He was a member of St. Alban’s Anglican Church. Earle will be remembered by his family and friends for never having a bad thing to say about anyone. A selfless private man, his love for his family and close friends was unparalleled, lending a helping hand whenever and wherever needed and asking nothing in return. He was a true gentleman to many and loved by all.

Earle is survived by his guardians, Charlie and Ellen Rose; numerous cousins and close friends he made over the years.

Besides his parents, Earle was predeceased by his two brothers, William Rolls and Stephen ‘Boxer’ Rolls.

Visitation for the late Earle Rolls will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Earle will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. Following the service, everyone is invited to a reception within the funeral home reception area. Interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney at a later date.

Donations in memory of Earle may be made to St. Alban’s Anglican Church or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
