We, the family of Elsie Mary Kaarto regretfully announce her passing on April 1, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Elsie was born In Sydney on March 25, 1928.
Elsie worked hard most of her life. She had a strong faith with God. Elsie enjoyed getting together with family and friends as well as attending special occasions. She loved playing cards and darts. Elsie lived a simple life by doing the best she could by truly loving life. She will be remembered by her family and friends for being kind and loving.
Elsie is survived by her sons, James (Nancy) and Lawrence; grandchildren, Robert, Gregory, Kevin, David, Allen, Tina, Lorraine, Corrina and Tom; and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Cassidy, Tabitha, Ashley, Kayla, Candace and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Pentti James Kaarto.
Funeral service to celebrate the life of Elsie Mary Kaarto will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Thursday, April 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Elsie may be made to charity of ones choice.
The Kaarto family would like to give special thanks to their mother’s closest friend, Mary Jones for all the love and care given to Elsie during her time of need.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
