100, Port Hood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on March 16, 1912 in Glencoe Mills, Margaret was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (Campbell) MacLean.

Margaret was a member of St. Peter’s Parish, Port Hood and C.W.L. for 60 years. She enjoyed the company of family and friends, always making sure no one left her home without a good cup of tea. "Grandma Next Door" will be remembered for her keen memory up to her final days.

Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Dougald; son, John Duncan; brothers, Dougald, Roddie and Donald Angus; and granddaughter, Wendy Smith.

Margaret will be missed by her children, Mary (the late Malcolm) MacFarlane, John D. (Elaine), Catherine (P.A.) Smith, Neil (Sandra), D.A. (Carrie), Jessie, Jimmie, all from Boston, Jeanette (Jackie) Campbell, Sandy (Jane) and Dannie, all from Port Hood; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for the late Margaret Mae MacKinnon will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 28, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, Mar. 29, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Port Hood and Area Resting Place, Port Hood. Funeral mass to celebrate the life of Margaret Mae MacKinnon will be held on Friday, Mar. 30 at 11 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Port Hood with Fr. Vincent van Zutphen officiating. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Port Hood.

Donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Port Hood Volunteer Fire Department or Port Hood and Area Resting Place.

The family would like to thank Inverness County Home Care for their compassionate care given to Margaret over the past years

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
