It is with sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Anna Johnston, on Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney, May 17, 1941, Anna was the daughter of the late Lauchlin and Margaret (MacNeil) Johnston. Anna was the last member of her immediate family.

Anna was a gentle lady. She will always be remembered by family and friends as loving and kind.

Anna is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Sandy) Campbell and Michelle (Kenny) Rich; three sons, Kevin (Agnes), Raymond (Janet) and Michael (Shelly) Johnston; nine grandchildren, Kevin, Shaun, Haley, Holly, Kristen, Brittney, Leanne, Stephanie and Cameron; four great-grandchildren, Caden, Kaylee, Kiley and Hannah; several nieces and nephews; and her dog, Cheech.

Besides her parents, Anna was predeceased by her husband, Michael Johnston, sister, Lillian; two brothers, James (Sonny) and Lauchie Johnston; and daughter in-law, Beverly Irene (Nickless) Johnston.

Visitation for the late Anna Johnston will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Tuesday, Feb. 14 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at the funeral home in the All Faiths Chapel on Wednesday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Memorial donations in memory of Anna may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
