It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of Owen Francis Scott on Jan. 25, 2012, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 12, 1936, Owen was the son of the late Richard and Elsie (Mumford) Scott.

Owen was an avid sports fan, especially when it came to the Toronto Maple leafs. He loved visits from family and friends. Owen will always be remembered for his cooking and baking, for his pork pies were always in demand.

Owen will be sadly missed by his loving partner, Dora Burke; children, Rose (Fred) Fraser, Richie (Janice) Scott, John (Valerie Scott), Elsie MacKinnon, Owen (Dawn) Scott, Barbara (Kenny) Dixon and Randy (Jackie) Scott. He is also survived by mother of his children, Myrna Scott; stepson, Ronnie (Lynn) Burke; sisters, Dorothy (Mike) MacInnis, Margaret MacLean, Rosena Walker, Beatrice (Tom) MacVicar and Barb (Howie) Campbell; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Margie Corbett, Hanna MacDonald (son, James), Kaye Fitzgerald; brothers-in-law, Jackie (Margie) Pyke, Arthur Pyke and Bill MacDonald (Eleanor).

Besides his parents, Owen was predeceased by his daughter, Jeannette Ziegler, great-granddaughter, Jaileigh, sisters, Gertrude Sears, Isabel Campbell and Cathy Ryan, and a brother, John Scott.

Visitation for the late Owen Francis Scott will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd., Sydney, Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Owen Francis Scott will be held Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. in the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Owen may be made to Palliative Care of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia Lung Association or Canadian Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
