37, Brookfield, formally of Margaree Centre. It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our son/brother on Saturday, December 24, 2011, in Colchester Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born October 7, 1974, Joey grew up in Margaree Centre and graduated from Inverness Consolidated School. Joey was an avid outdoorsmen and he was most happy snowmobiling in the Highlands or awaiting that big buck to cross his path. He enjoyed listening to music and he was a familiar sight, spinning his tires on the dance floor. Joey endured many challenges in life but he enjoyed spending lots of time with family and friends and he was his mothers good luck charm at the Bingo Hall. Joey will be remembered for his great sense of humor and a personality of gold that touched the lives of many people. He spent many hours chatting with family and friends on Facebook and he had the gift of gab; his late night phone calls to Sydney will always be missed. Joey was a very caring person and he would always ask “How was your day today?”

Joey is survived by his parents, Franklin Angus Phillips Sr. and Mary Jane (Matthews) Phillips; siblings, Frankie (wife, Marguerite), Great Village, Elvis (wife, Jody), Margaree Centre, Corrina (fiancée, Bobby), Brookfield, Rocky (Marley), Brookfield, Billy Jack (Kathleen), St. John N.B., and Ern (Jenn), Brookfield; his special nieces and nephews, Rory, Miriam, Breton, Kalyn, Ryland, Brielle, Isaiah, Gavin, Nevin, and Blake; many aunts and uncles; and lots of extended family. Joey is also survived by his grandmothers, Allena (MacNeil) Phillips, Margaree Centre and Jean (Bushell) Matthews, Tobin Road.

Joey was predeceased by his grandfathers, John Joe Phillips, Margaree Centre and Les Matthews, Sydney Mines. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Joey’s life will be held with family and friends on Monday, January 2, 2012 from 4-7 p.m. in the Cranton Cross Roads Community Centre in Margaree Centre. Family flowers only.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Online condolences may be forwarded to the family at www.pierfuneralhome.com.

Joey was an inspiration to us all, keep smiling Joe, it is your time to wheel free.

My Dear Angus and Mary?and family: There is no easy way through this?but know that God is comforting you , through the arms and words of family and friends. Joey looked so childlike, and so at peace?I pray these few words will offer some comfort. The other day, I noticed that as I held one of my babies about to be baptized?, I instinctively started swaying ? a pretty clear image of swaying to the rhythm of love. The sway happens with babies because it calms and soothes them. I wonder how many times in a given day God would like to rush to us and sway with us to the rhythm of God?s heart, of God?s love. I wonder ~ especially in times like these, would God like to break through all the other voices and noises in our lives ?to reassure us that we?re OK. We?re going to make it. We?re loved. We?re cared for. We?re not alone. ?and to remind us that love never dies?it just changes form. St. Augustine said, our hearts are restless until they rest in God. Joey is now at rest in God. He was dearly loved, and will be remembered. He is experiencing true freedom for the first time?. Our bodies are only temporary vessels. When the time is right, like leaves on a tree, they disappear from view? only to be renewed in due season?.in a manner our limited vision is not able to perceive. Just hold unto all the good memories. Love and support one another?.and most of all remember?in the midst of all this hurt and pain?God is with you?reminding you ~ that love is eternal, love never dies and one day, you will be together again. With sincere and heartfelt sympathy, Dale

To the Phillips Family. Over the last year I have had the opportunity to develop not only a work relationship but also a friendship Ern, Corrina and of course let’s not forget Bob. I did not have the pleasure of meeting Joey, however, I know first hand how his spirit was adored by our family. Knowing the traits both Ern and Corrina have, I am sure that they flow and are a part of each family member. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I guess each of you has a new angel to guide you from here on in. The Sullivan Family
