We, the family of John Joseph ‘Joe’ Campbell regretfully announce his passing on Dec. 24, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on June 15, 1918, in Woodbine, N.S., Joe was the son of the late John R. and Margaret (MacInnis) Campbell.
Joe was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Joe was a veteran in the Second World War and spent 38 years at Sydney Steel before his retirement. Our dad, Joe will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joe is survived by his sons, John (Evelyn) and Roy (Catherine); daughter, Mary Bourgeois; five grandchildren, Greg and Tracey Campbell, Christopher Bourgeois, Margaret Ann Sheehan and Darrel Bourgeois; four great-grandchildren, Daniel Boyce, Ceilidh Sheehan, Reagan Sheehan and William Campbell Sheehan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret MacKinnon and second wife, Linda George. He was also predeceased by brothers, Michael, Hugh and Rod, and sisters, Mary E., Margaret and Rachael.
There was no visitation for the late John Joseph ‘Joe’ Campbell for cremation had taken place. A private family funeral service celebrated the life of John Joseph ‘Joe’ Campbell on Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, in the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, officiated by Fr. Paul Murphy.
Donations in memory of Joe may be made to Palliative Care Society-An Cala unit or charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
