An Angel received her wings on November 5, 2011. Evelyn Mae Smith passed away peacefully at home surrounded by love.

Born in Argyle and a long time resident of Yarmouth, Evelyn was the daughter of the late John and Annie (Muise) Dulong. She moved to CB in 2008 to be cared for by loving daughter, Bren Eve Smith and Bryn’s life partner, Diane Gillis within a loving community.

Evelyn is survived by daughters, Shirley (David) Mersey, Kemptville and Bren Eve (Diane) Smith, Aberdeen; sons, Sonny (Cynthia), Pembroke and Paul (Barb), Ontario; grandchildren, Holly (Sheldon) Thomas, John (Marie) Hines, Dwight (Debbie) Smith, Lisa (Kevin) Deveau, Annette (Mitch) Rodgerson, Joey Smith (partner Sarah) and Charles Fells and great-grandchildren, Alan Berry, Shelby Smith, Samantha Usher(partner Ryan) and Bailey Smith.

Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband, George Sinclair Smith (1916-1975); brothers, Arthur and Lawrence; and her beloved cat, Chloe.
Visitation and prayer service to honor the late Evelyn Mae Smith will be held in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth, N.S. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 7-9 p.m. with prayer service at 7:30 p.m. with Rev. William Newell officiating.
A special charity for low income seniors will soon be set up in Evelyn’s honor “Evelyn’s Envelopes”. In her life time she has been a helping hand to many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to local food banks.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home.
