99, Dunvegan

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother and sister, Elizabeth Rose Kennedy of Dunvegan.
Elizabeth passed away on Friday, October 14, 2011 at Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital.

Elizabeth was born in North East Margaree on September 3, 1912, the eldest daughter of the late John Charles and Ester (Doucet) Bennet. In her early years, she worked at Ross Taylor’s. She met and married Dannie Kennedy of Inverness in 1929. Afterward, she devoted her life to family and shortly after having her first child and losing her mother, looked after her younger siblings, who, also, called her “Mamma”. She loved all children and was happiest when they were on her knee. She had 14 children, 44 grand children, 84, great grand children and 20 great, great grand children. She was a kind and gentle, but hard-working woman who gave, even when she couldn’t give, to her community, to her family and to anyone who came into her home in need. She looked after her farm animals, who loved her and would run to her by name. All animals loved her. She treated anyone who came like her own and they all called her “Mom” and she was loved by all.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Alex Neil, Dunvegan; Ernest (Donelda), Inverness; Mary (Miney), S. W. Margaree; Angus, Inverness; Donnie (Diana), Inverness; Gregory (Irene) Dunvegan; Jacqueline (John), Mississauga, Ont.; Josephine, Port Coquitlam, B.C.; Johnny, Dunvegan; Irene, S.W. Margaree; and Dianne, Dunvegan, who devoted her life to her and lovingly, kept her with us all these years; brothers, Patrick (Marge), Ontario, Alexander (Anne), St. Rose; sister, Audrey, Jamaica Plains, Mass.

Elizabeth was pre-deceased by her parents and husband, Dannie; children, Marguerite, Patricia and Hector; brothers and sister, John Murdoch, Jimmy, Hector, Jeddore and Mary Ellen.
