It is with deep sadness that we regret to announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Evelyn Grace Keeping, who passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011.

Born in Harbour Breton, Nfld., Evelyn was the daughter of the late Cecil Cluett and Chatfield ‘Chattie’ Burry.

Evelyn was a member of St. Alban Anglican Church. She was past Worthy Mistress LOBA. Evelyn loved knitting, plastic canvassing, colouring and reading. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Evelyn will always be remembered by her family and friends as a care taker for all especially, to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her husband, David; daughters, Gloria (Derrick) Burke, Edwina (Robert) MacSween, Shirley Bernice (Jimmy) Miles, Nicole Colson-Keeping and Jody (Philip) MacDonald; sons, Cecil Barter, Bernie Barter and David Keeping and sisters, Mabel, Shirley, Lucy, Eva and Myrtle. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; as well as her two dogs, Skipper and Precious.

Besides her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her daughter, Darlene George.
Visitation for the late Evelyn Grace Keeping will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Saturday, Oct. 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be held on Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 at 1 p.m. at St. Alban Anglican Church with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in Evelyn’s memory may be made to support the family through the Gift of Love.
