It is with sadness we regretfully announce the death of our mother, Doris Ann (Tremblett) Head, who passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Bonavista, N.L., Doris moved to Sydney in 1951 where she married and raised her family.
Doris is survived by her husband, Melvin; daughters, Susan (Chuck Champion) and Janet; sons, Gary and Paul (Wendy), all from Sydney; sisters, Millicent Mercer, Newfoundland, and Doreen Whyte, Greenwood, N.S.; brother, Raymond, Newfoundland; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was predeceased by her parents and two sisters.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service in honour of the late Doris Ann Head will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Major Dan Roode officiating. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the reception area. A private family interment will take place in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to honour Doris may be made to the Horizon Achievement Centre, Sydney.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
