It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and aunt, Ann Catherine Fraser on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Au Cala Unit, Sydney, N.S., surrounded by her family.

Ann was born in Sydney, N.S., and raised in Glace Bay. She was the daughter of the late Ervin and Eva MacDougall.

Ann was a caring and loving stay at home mother who was devoted to her family. She will be sadly missed by her partner and best friend, Howard English, Whitney Pier; daughter, Paula (Barry), Fredericton, N.B.; and sons, Paul (Kathie), Dwayne (Denise), both of New Waterford, and Marlowe (Nancy), Victoria, B.C. Ann will be fondly remembered by her 12 grandchildren; sister, Elisa Estwick, Grande Cache, Alta.; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Ann was predeceased by her former husband, Paul Fraser, sisters, Melda Hewer, Mary MacDonald, Carol Bassil, Julie MacDougall and Marjorie ‘Midge’ Gracie, and brothers, Michael MacDougall and Cleve Greene.

Funeral service to celebrate Ann’s life will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel in Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Tuesday, Jan 11 at 10 a.m. with Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. Reception will be held following the service. Interment will take place at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay at a later date.

Donations in Ann’s memory may be made to Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
