It is with profound sadness that we, the family of Donna Sheppard announce her passing at home on July 7, 2010.
Born in Baddeck, NS, Donna was the loving daughter of Jeannette (Morrison) and the late Donald “D.A.” MacDonald.
Donna was a devoted wife and mother to her family. Donna loved the staff and residents at New Dawn Guest Home where she was employed for many years. She was an avid reader. Donna could always be found in a grocery store when she wasn’t at home or at work. Donna is known by everyone as an exceptional cook and her treats became her expression for making others feel good. Donna will be missed by all that knew her.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Curtis; children, Bradley (Jennifer), Starla and Jenna Sheppard, all from Whitney Pier; sisters, Patricia MacDonald, Truro, Shelley (Winston) MacLean, Orangedale, Tanya (Dale) Morrison, Port Hawkesbury; brothers, Blair MacDonald, Dennis Morrison, both from Whycocomagh and Blaise (Angela) MacDonald, North Sydney; mother in-law, Muriel Farmer and special friend, Gennie MacDonald. She will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation for the late Donna Sheppard will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Sunday, July 11 from 7-9 p.m. and Monday, July 12 from 2–4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service for the late Donna Sheppard will be celebrated at the Trinity United Church, Whitney Pier, on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Maggie Coleman officiating. Reception will follow at the Menelik Hall Community Centre, Laurier Street. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
Memorial donations in Donna’s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home.
