70, Whitney Pier

It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Duncan Campbell, on Monday, May 31, 2010, at Glace Bay Hospital.

Born in Whitney Pier, August 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Duncan and Cassie (MacLean) Campbell.

Duncan served with the Canadian Army, Infantry, Black Watch.
 
He enjoyed baseball games, especially the Toronto Blue Jays. He loved country western music and talking about the good old days with his friends.

Duncan will always be remembered as a “Good Fellow”. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends, especially for his dry sense of humor.

Surviving are his one sister, Rita O’Leary as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Duncan was predeceased by his long time companion, Sally Sparling, two sisters, Mary Muise and Anita Hanlon and three brothers; John, Willie and Bernie Campbell.

Funeral Service for the late Duncan Campbell will be celebrated at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Road (entrance on Church St.) at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 2 with Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the reception area.  Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in Duncan’s memory may be made to the Holy Redeemer Building Fund.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home.

At this time, the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Taigh Na Mara and Glace Bay Hospital, 3 West as well as to Fr. Conrad Edwards for their professional and tender care of Duncan in his time of need.
