It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Roy Lewis on Thursday, February 25, 2010 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Merle and Emmeline (MacPhee) Lewis.

A retired water commission worker for the City of Sydney, Roy spent his days enjoying life, his family and friends and especially the great outdoors.

Roy is survived by his long time companion and best friend, Carol Anne Dobbs, his children, Robin (Michael) Biller, Ontario, Roy Joseph Lewis, Ontario and Ronald Dillon Lewis, Alberta; step-children, Sherri (Doug), Sydney, Karen (Rob), Halifax and his much loved grandchildren, Marshall, Michelle, Mitchell, Krystal, Joey, Roy Michael, Jennelle and Christopher. Also mourning his loss are his brothers, Ernest (Raylene), Russell (Eita) both of Sydney; sisters, Deanna (Danny), Truro and Theresa (Carl), Sydney and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his loving parents, Roy was predeceased by his brothers, Nicholas, Ronald, Francis and Stanley and a sister, Victoria.

Visitation for the late Roy Lewis will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Sunday, Feb. 28 and Monday, Mar. 1 from 2–4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass to celebrate Roy’s life will be held Tuesday, Mar. 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Errol MacDonald officiating.  Interment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in Roy’s memory may be made to Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation, Cancer Patient Care or Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
