It is with sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Lillian Johnston, on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Born in Sydney, October 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Lauchlin and Margaret (MacNeil) Johnston.

Lillian was a long time resident at the Braemore Home, Sydney River.

She will always be remembered as a lady of strong Christian faith and often drew upon the bible for strength.

Lillian is survived by her sister, Anna Johnston; two nieces, Sharon (Sandy) Campbell and Michelle (Kenny) Rich; three nephews, Kevin, Raymond (Janet) and Michael Johnston. She is also survived by several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Besides her parents, Lillian was predeceased by her two brothers, James (Sonny) and Lauchie Johnston.

Visitation for the late Lillian Johnston will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Friday, Mar. 5 from 2–4 and 7-9 pm. A celebration of Lillian’s life will be held at the funeral home in the All Faiths Chapel on Saturday, Mar. 6 at 11a.m. with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Private family interment will take place in Hardwood Hill Cemetery, Sydney at a later date.

Memorial donations in Lillian’s memory may be made to the Braemore Home Charitable Foundation or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of the Pier Community Funeral Home.
