It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of Jim Petrie, on Friday March 12, 2010 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Jim was the son of the late James and Sadie (MacDougall) Petrie.
Jim had 36 years of service with Devco. He worked in Colliery 20, Colliery 26 and at the machine shop.
He is survived by his loving long time companion, Delores MacLeod; daughter, Sherry (Graham), ON; sons, Charlie, ON, Calvin (Ann), ON, Derek (Karen), ON and Brian, Que. and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Euphemia Bryden, Lexie (Jim) MacIntyre and Mona (Jackie) Burgess and brothers, Ron (Jackie), NB and Al (Reni), AB.
Jim was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Campbell) and sisters, Diane Blackmore and Shelia Stewart.
There will be no visitation for cremation has taken place. Burial will be at a later date.
Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
At this time the family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the doctors and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their professional and tender care of Jim in his time of need.
