It is with profound sadness that we, the family announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Peter David Prior on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Glace Bay Hospital, Glace Bay with his loving family at his side.
Peter was born on June 30, 1941, in New Waterford.
Peter married the love of his life, Jessie Catherine McLellan on August 5, 1961. Peter is survived by his wife, Jessie; children, Cynthia (Greg) Maymon Foster, Rhode Island, Edward (Ann Marie), Millville, and Michelle, Grand Mira; grandchildren, Jessica, Ashley, Alexandria, Kurstyn and Korey; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Neveah, Jacob, Peyton and Bailey; sister, Brenda (Dick) Dangelo, Framingham, Massachusetts; sisters-in-law, Ann (Harry) Leacy, Massachusetts, and Ellen (James) Tracadie, NS; brothers-in-law, Buddy McLellan, Oklahoma, and Johnnie (Marg) McLellan, Valley, NS.
Peter was predeceased by his brother, John; parents-in-law, Carson and Catherine McLellan, which he adored; sister-in-law, Tory Tripp and brother-in-law, Billy McLellan.
As per Peter’s request, there will be no visitation or service for the late Peter Prior at this time.
Donations in memory of Peter may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

My dear Jessie and Michelle and family,I am so sad reading Peter’s obituary.I am so glad we had the opportunity to meet Peter while he was in 4B with Kirby.Many days we 3 waited together for 10 am for his darling Jessie to come to him .Peter would constantly ask how much longer.it was an amazing love for sure between Peter and Jessie.Kirby would often smile and say I can hear them smooching behind the curtain ♥️ He will always be in your heart Jessie,As kirby told me Be strong dear.
