With broken hearts, the family of Scott Kenneth MacKenzie, are sad to announce his sudden and unexpected passing on Sunday, May 12,2024. Scott was born on October 23, 1976.

Scott is survived by his son, Dylan Bonnell; parents, Donnie and Maureen MacKenzie; sister, Cheryl MacKenzie-Butler (Donald Butler); niece, Jessica Butler, and his best friend and companion, Ramona Bruckschwaiger, whom he adored.

Scott was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Norman and Rachel MacKenzie and his maternal grandparents, Wallace and Jessie Martell, as well as many uncles and aunts.

Scott was a friendly and sociable person, always well liked by those who came to know him. In his younger years, Scott was known for his smooth skating and talented hockey skills. One of the highlights of his hockey days was being selected for an Atlantic Canada All Star team, which participated in the prestigious Hockey Night in Boston Tournament against high school hockey teams from all over the United States.

Scott played high school hockey for both Riverview and Sydney Academy. He was an avid Blue Jays and Pittsburgh Penguins fan and could often be found watching hockey and baseball on TV. Scott loved music and spent much of his free time blasting hits from the past.

There will be no visitation or service at this time for the late Scott MacKenzie. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Donations in memory of Scott may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Donnie, Maureen, Cheryl, and Ramona, I’m so sorry to read of Scott’s sudden and unexpected passing. You all spent many Christmas Eves visiting us and I remember him as a quiet handsome little boy. Please know that I am thinking of you during this sad time.
