It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Reginald ‘Reg’ George Harris on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on February 2, 1939, Reg was the son of the late George and Sadie (Dawe) of Newfoundland.
Left behind to mourn, Reg is survived by his children, Dora (Jack), Sydney, Sadie (Tom), Sydney, Cathy (Terry), Sydney, June (Scott), Westville, Reggie, Sydney, and Billy, Edmonton; sister, Beverly (Gary) Cooper, Sydney; brothers, Winston (Glenna), and Barry (Doreen); along with many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by sisters, Shirley Delaney, Pearl Jolie, and brothers, Bill, David, and Byron.
Reg had a deep passion for Elvis Presley, evident in his apartment filled with Elvis records, photographs, and other collector’s items. He loved listening to his Elvis records, finding comfort and joy in the music.
Visitation for the late Reginald Harris will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024. A celebration of Reginald’s life will be held in the funeral home in the All Faith Chapel on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11 a.m. with Lts. Dion and Jennelle Durdle officiating. Private family interment will take place at a late date.
Donations in memory of Reginald may be made to Operation Smile Canada.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
My condolences to my cousins, Dad, Uncle Barry and Aunt Bev on the loss of Uncle Reg. I remember the trips out Mira when we were kids and always meeting up with Uncle Reg in the food court in the mall when I was skipping school. No one found out so he didn’t squeal on me. Rest in peace Uncle Reg. . XO
