Sydney Forks
We, the family announce the passing of Steven Joseph Csernyik, age 70, on Monday, April 1, 2024, in Sydney Forks, Nova Scotia.
Born in Kisvardia, Hungary, on August 22, 1954, Steve was a son of the late Mike and Barbara (Augoston) Csernyik. Steve’s parents fled the country to Canada to escape Russia’s attack on the country during the peak of the Hungarian Revolution.
Steve and his brothers grew up on Mira Road and he would later attend trade school for Plumbing and Pipe fitting. Throughout the 80’s and 90’s Steve operated a successful plumbing business, Keltic Plumbing and Heating. He would later work in Illinois, Ontario, and Alberta as a Red Seal Pipe fitter before he retired in 2019.
Steve enjoyed Salmon fishing, fast cars, motorcycles and playing guitar. When his boys were young Steve enjoyed spending time watching them at the rink or in the role of a coach. He looked forward to summer family vacations to Margaree, where he spent most of his time fishing and in the ocean. Steve may have had some struggles but lived life to the fullest. Our family is grateful to know that he is finally at peace.
Steve is survived by his two sons, Steven Jr. (Brittany Budden) and Jason (Tristan Macdonald) and brothers, Michael, Bob (Darlene), and David (Laura).
There will be no visitation or service for the late Steven Csernyik. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Steven may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Our sincere condolences to the family
Please accept our heart-felt condolences Mike, Bobby, David, Stephen Jr, Jason and your families.
Our youthful friendship with Stevie was full of fun filled memories. Whether hammering his Yellow Ford Fairlane at the PEI Drag Strip, racing our 900 cc Kawasaki motorcycle across NFLD (no-one could catch us), deer hunting from dawn to dusk (he was a sniper with that 270) playing golf at Ingo, ball at the Pier, salmon fishing at the “Black Pool” (Steve’s favorite) in North River, going full tilt in a Karate Spar or trout fishing in Stirling where we caught so many fish we didn’t know what to do with them all – man he was fun. Stevie was always ready to try anything, he will be missed but never forgotten.
Our sincere condolences to the family
