Sydney
It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Laura Langille, announce her passing on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the age of 88.
Laura was born in Glace Bay on August 11, 1935, and was one of eight children.
Laura spent her adult life living in Louisbourg and was married to our father, Ervin for 63 years until his passing in 2015. Her most treasured role was that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She cherished her friends and loved spending time with them whether it was just going for a drive or travelling to the Caribbean, she was up for adventure.
Mom worked at Hopkins fish plant in her early years until she became a full-time homemaker. She was an incredible cook and baker, and she enjoyed preparing meals for friends and family. Mom had a strong faith and loved being part of her church family.
Besides her husband, Ervin, Laura is predeceased by her parents, Augustus and Eva Hibbs; sisters and brothers, Mabel, Jim, Jessie, George, John, and Marion.
Laura is survived by her children, Glenn (Pam), and Michelle (Toby); grandchildren, Nicole (Fergal), Marc, Kyle (Amanda), and Aaron (MacKenzi); great-grandchildren, Jensen and Alora; as well as her brother, Ralph (Dolly).
A special thank you to MacGillivary Guest home for your wonderful and dignified care provided to our mother during her stay there, in particular the staff at Rankin Road.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Laura Langille will be held at Sydney Pentecostal Church, 20 Victoria Road, Sydney on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Purdy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Laura may be made to the Alzheimer’s society Nova Scotia or MacGillivary Guest Home.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Dear Michelle, Glenn & Families:
Your mom was a very special lady, who we loved so much. We will miss her sweetness, smile and her funny sarcastic wit, which was always so much fun. Please accept our sincere condolences on the loss of your mom.
Love,
Suzanne, Stuart & Matthew MacLeod
My dear Aunt Lol (Laura) has left us. In her teen years she lived with my family, Mabel and Ralph Levey and me, in Louisbourg and attended high school there.
Lol was like a sister and I enjoyed her company in our house. She and Sis (Marion) often used me as a model for makeup and hairdos. It was a fun time.
Although I have been away from Louisbourg for many years, I have fond memories and think of her often. Unfortunately, due to health issues, I am unable to make it to her memorial service.
Lol, you are missed. God bless you and rest in peace.
Blaine
Dear Michelle, Glen and families:
I was so sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing, having known her for such a long time through our church. She was such a lovely lady, so sweet and stylish! But she could be so funny at times, and really didn’t mind giving her opinion at all! My condolences to you and prayers that God will give you peace knowing that she is now in heaven with Ervin, and so many others.
Dear Glenn and Pam,
Janie and I would like to extend our most sincere condolences to the whole Langille family on the loss of your mum. I believe many of us have been most fortunate in having our parents with us for as many years as we have. Being seniors as we are now, having either of our parents still with us is a blessing not to be squandered. This extra time has only added to the lengthy list of precious memories for you to look back on now that your parents are together once again. I am sure those memories will serve you well in the years to come. Unfortunately, we are just now recovering from a bad bout of the flu and will have to miss the memorial service. Blessings to you all.
To Glenn and all of the Langille family, I want to pass on my most sincere condolences for your loss. My thoughts are with you in this difficult time of sorrow.
My deepest condolences Michelle, Toby and the entire Langille family. Your mom was such a sweet lady. I have fond memories of both Laura and Ervin when I was a young girl growing up in Louisbourg. You know Ervin was waiting for her with open arms. Praying for Gods peace in the days ahead.
