Whitney Pier

It is with profound sadness that we, the family, announce the sudden death of Dianne Lorraine McLaine, age 70, on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Dianne was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred (Doyle) McLaine and was the youngest of six siblings.

Dianne will be deeply missed by her daughter, Amber Lynn McLaine (Ron Crawley); her pride and joy, grandson, Ethan; brothers, Arthur, South Carolina, and Donald; sister, Dawn Mary (Aubery) Lynk; sister-in-law, Margie McLaine, and her nieces, nephews and two fur babies.

Besides here parents, Dianne was predeceased by brothers, Phillip and John.

Dianne was an employee of MT&T/Aliant where she had a career of thirty years starting as an operator and retiring at the young age of 51 as a Business Services Technician, the first female in Sydney to obtain that position. She loved to meet up for lunch with her former co-workers or spending hours on the phone catching up.

Dianne was known to extend a helping hand to those in need. She enjoyed spending time outside with her beloved grandson, Ethan, and family gatherings around the pool. She lived a life of compassion, and will be remembered as an independent, hardworking, caring neighbour, and a devoted mother and grandmother.

Celebration of LIFE for the late Dianne McLaine will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 2–4 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Donations in memory of Dianne may be made to a cat rescue/organization of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
