It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the passing of Robert Gene Petterson on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on March 10, 1950, in Sydney, Robert was a son to the late James Joseph and Anna Marie (Spagnolatti) Petterson.

Reno was an avid hunter and fishermen. When he wasn’t enjoying the outdoors, you could find him fixing old cars and trucks, and hanging out at the garage in River Ryan with the gang. He also loved watching Clint Eastwood movies and listening to Rod Stewart with Donnie and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. Rob will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by his sister, Linda Marie Petterson (Donnie Rideout); brothers, Jimmy ‘Diddy’ Petterson (Colleen), Sydney, Carl Wayne Petterson, Sydney, and Arnold Roger Petterson, Alberta; as well as nieces, nephews and special friends, Danny Fortune, Patricia Martin and Aggie Martin.

Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his sister Veronica Thomson.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of unit 4B and the CCU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the care given to Robert during his time of need.

As per Robert’s request, there will be no visitation or memorial service.

Donations in memory of Robert may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
