It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Donna Marie Francis on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family. She battled a lengthy illness.
Born on May 21, 1958, in Boston, Mass, USA, Donna was the daughter of the late Margaret and Charles Francis.
Donna is survived by sisters, Elizabeth Ann Johnson (Tommy), Anne Marie Francis, Carmelina Googoo, Jessie Francis, and Debbie Francis; brothers, Jason Francis (Samantha) Virick Francis, and Steve Francis (Barbara); special friend/child, Johntae Young; aunts, Helen Dennis and Shirley Francis; uncles, Freeman Francis, and Michael Kane; godchildren, Alex Francis Jr., Francis John Googoo and Colby Denny; special friends, Doreen Young, Cathy Lewis, Jessica Lewis, Theresa Ann Syliboy, and Beverly Jeddore; as well as her extended family.
Besides her parents, Donna was predeceased by her sister, Charlene Nicholas (Paul); godchild, Noreen Paul; nephew, Adrian Francis; great-niece, Maureen Nicholas; grandparents, Caroline and William Francis and Flora and Stephen Francis; as well as several aunts and uncles.
Donna Marie loved music, bingo, playing cards and cruising. She attended UCCB.
Visitation for the late Donna Marie Francis will begin on Sunday, April 30, 2023, after 5 p.m. at the Gabriel Centre, Eskasoni. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 2, at Holy Family Church with Fr. Antolin Asor officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Sometimes in your life you are lucky to have a true lifetime friend. Donna was a kind funny beautiful person who I loved and respected since I was in Grade 2. I am truly honoured to have known you.
