Louisburg
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of Garfield ‘Sandy’ Kennedy on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on May 31, 1955, in Sydney, Sandy was a son to the late Garfield and Lucy (Burke) Kennedy.
Sandy is survived by his wife, Carol; daughter, Lisa MacNeil (Colin) and Bev McLeod (Greg); grandchildren, Ashlyn, Thomas, Erin, and Katie; brothers, Tommy, Harry, Alvin, Leonard, Stephen, Jamie, Jody and sisters, Elaine, Jackie, and Glenda.
Besides his parents, Sandy was predeceased by his brothers, Bobby, Donald and Dennis.
Anything family or friends needed fixed, Sandy could fix. He was the local handyman and known as ‘Mr. fix it’. Dad was always there to the rescue, especially for his daughters and grandchildren making sure the lint was never hanging around. “PLEASE, empty the lint trap.”
A special thank you to Aebin Paul for his compassion during Dad’s illness.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or service for the late Sandy Kennedy
Donations in memory of Sandy may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
