Kevin Corbett passed away in the University Hospital, Edmonton, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at the age of 62.

Born in Sydney, Kevin was the son of the late Bartholomew and Doris (Kiley) Corbett.

Kevin was a member of Holy Redeemer parish. He worked at Sydney Steel and later worked as a labourer in Alberta. His pastimes were watching the Chicago Blackhawks, playing darts, and discussing politics. Kevin will be missed by all who knew him.

Kevin is survived by his son, Terrence (Carley) Whelan; grandson, Nathan; sisters, Catherine (Jack) Moore, Arlene Petrie, and Lorraine (Dave) Murchison, all from Sydney; brothers, Gordon (Roberta), Sydney, and special friends in Alberta, Irene Paul and her son, Travis, Michael Osbourne, and many others that had Kevin’s best interest at heart; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and nieces.

Besides his parents, Kevin was predeceased by his brothers, Terrance, Bartholomew, Reg, Kelly, Basil and brother-in-law, Gerald Petrie.

Visitation for the late Kevin Corbett will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Road (entrance on Church Street), Whitney Pier. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Reception will be held at the Pier Community Funeral home. Internment will take place in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in memory of Kevin may be made to charity of one’s choice.

We lost a fantastic person, I had the absolute pleasure of working with Kevin at syncrude. He and I became fantastic friends. We worked together and shared stories of our lives.. Kevin could seriously make my day with his presence. He talked about his family with pride.. we stayed in touch after his retirement with phone calls that I always looked forward too.. my condolences and sympathy to the Corbett and friends.. god rest his soul.. so so sorry for your loss!!!
