Born November 4, 1935, to William and Maryann (Bates) and was raised and resided in Little Lorraine. He began fishing at an early age and fished well into his seventies, a job he truly loved. Besides his parents, Fabian was predeceased by sisters, Barbara and Lorraine, brothers, Joseph, Billy, and Barry; in-laws, Dan and Sadie MacDonald, Johnny, Roy, Cecil, Dave, Walter, Clifford, Dennis, Kathleen and Marilyn.
Cremation has taken place. Private memorial service to celebrate the life of Fabian Burke will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier at a later date.
Donations in memory of Fabian may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Ode to Father Fabian
I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ’em I’ve gone fishin’

I have so many fond memories of Fabian when I was growing up in Woods Harbour and he was sword fishing with my father, James Belliveau, in Woods Harbour. We waited impatiently for the Cape Bretoners to arrive every summer and we always were amazed they took sugar in their tea. Fabian will be missed in my fond memories.
Condolences to the Burke family Diane and Clark Mackinnon
