With sadness, the family announce the passing of Daniel ‘Fabian’ Burke, AKA ‘Silver Sam’ on Sunday, January 15, 2023, in An Cala Palliative Care, Sydney. Fabian was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Born November 4, 1935, to William and Maryann (Bates) and was raised and resided in Little Lorraine. He began fishing at an early age and fished well into his seventies, a job he truly loved. Every conversation revolved around lobster fishing. In later years, Fabian and Rita loved nothing more than their daily drive around the loop in their little red car.

Fabian is survived by his loving wife, Rita (MacDonald); daughters, Julie (Terry), Kelly (Cecil), Corinne (Blair), and Tammie (Yvon); son, Jonathan (Sherrie); grandchildren, Alex (Jerrica), Adam (Katrina), Taylor (Annalisa), Kathryn (Chris), Chloe (Ian), Barbara (Bret), Evan, and Sarah; great-grandchildren, Oaklynn and Henry; sisters, Irene, and Geneva; brother, Gerard; in-laws, Lauchie (Irene), Jackie (Patsy), Bert (Clarisse), Kenny (Laurie), Margie (Danny), Debbie (Lawrence), Mary Burke, Mary MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Fabian was predeceased by sisters, Barbara and Lorraine, brothers, Joseph, Billy, and Barry; in-laws, Dan and Sadie MacDonald, Johnny, Roy, Cecil, Dave, Walter, Clifford, Dennis, Kathleen and Marilyn.

Cremation has taken place. Private memorial service to celebrate the life of Fabian Burke will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier at a later date.

Donations in memory of Fabian may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
