Westmount

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bernard Joseph LeBlanc on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney as the result of a brain bleed.

Bernard was the son of the late Alex and Rebecca (Chiasson) LeBlanc.

Bernard will be dearly missed by his wife of 57 years, Dolena (MacNeil) LeBlanc; son, Bernie (Connie); daughters, Laurie, Kingston, Ontario and Karen (Eddie), Brampton, Ontario; four grandchildren, D.J. and Emma LeBlanc, Lindsay Rae Lauzon and Riley Vincent; sisters, Doreen (Ernie O’Toole), Halifax and Marie Burns, Pickering, Ontario; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Bernard was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Wilbert and Lennie.

Bernie was employed at the Cape Breton Post for 40 years. He loved to fish, hunt, dance and play cards. He was a kind and generous person and adored his family. Bernie enjoyed a good game of Tarbish with his friends. His quick wit and stories would bring a smile to you face. Thanks for the good times.

Bernard was a member of Holy Rosary Church and a celebration of life will be held when circumstances permit.

Thanks to Dr. Greg Myatt, Janice and Laura and emergency nurses, Kyla, Briley and Maria. Thanks to Virginia for your support and to Dr. J Oshborne for your caring of Bernard in his time of need.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bernard can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Brain Bleed Foundation.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Hi Dolena: I’m very sorry to hear of Bernie’s death. I don’t know if you remember me but I met you with Bernie a few times at social functions of Bill W. Bernie was a likeable guy with a love of life and people. He had a twinkle in his eye that let us know a joke or witty remark was on the tip of his tongue. I know a lot of friends of Bill W. will miss him. Take care…Colleen
