We, the children regret to announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, Eileen Matilda Hill, age 87, on Friday, March 1, 2019, at Harbourstone, Sydney.
Born, raised and lived in Louisbourg, Eileen was the daughter of the late William and Lillian (Tanner) MacGillivary. Not only was she the youngest of her siblings, Eileen was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ashley Hill and five loving children, Sis, Bev, Lizz, Ash and DD. Nanny will be missed by many grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her siblings, Louis, George, Bill, Mary, Ann and Beaulah.
Eileen, a stay at home mom, loved making and listening to music. She was a woman of faith and a strong member of her church. A call from mom and chats at the kitchen table will be missed.
Visitation for the late Eileen Matilda Hill will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), Sydney.
Funeral service to celebrate the life of Eileen will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 1 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel.
A private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney at a later date.
Donations in memory of Eileen may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
