With broken hearts we regret to announce the death of Joyce Margaret MacNeil, age 58, on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Sydney, Joyce was the daughter of the late John A. and Margaret (MacNeil) Raoul.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 34 years, Frankie MacNeil; three loving children, Ronald (Nicole), Baddeck, Holly (Thyyab), Halifax and Jeffrey (Kelsey), Ontario; siblings, Anne (Welsey), Sydney, Beverly, Ingonish, Pauline (Chum), Howie Centre, Bobby, Halifax, Blair, Halifax, Frankie (Robyn) Halifax, Allen (Christie) Ontario and Doug (Rhonda), BC.

‘Grandma Neil’ will be missed by, Ethan, Alivia, Lois and Jason; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her brother, Johnny and nephew, Joey LeFort.

Joyce worked in the health care profession as a PCW at Harbourstone Enhanced Care for 32 years. She loved life and loved to laugh. Her family and friends were very important to her as well as her fur baby and sidekick, Waffles. Joyce had many happy years spent at the bungalow and beach in Big Pond. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Visitation for the late Joyce Margaret MacNeil will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. in the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street).
Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2019 in St. Theresa Church with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating. Following the Mass, a reception will be held in St. Theresa’s Hall.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
