It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Mary Hamilton on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Whycocomaugh, Mary was the daughter of the late George and Margaret (Maxwell) Morrison.

Mary is survived by sons, Derrick and David and their father, Glen; grandchildren, Robert, Raven and Renae; sisters, Kay Borden (Howie), Jeanette MacDonald (DA), Cynthia Cambridge (Joe), Diane Morrison (Robert); sister-in-law, Marilyn Jones (Leonard) as well as her extended family.

Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Donald and Howard.

Mary worked at the City Hospital for 35 years after working at the Victoria County Hospital in Baddeck for 4 years. She was an avid dart player and was in a league for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of TOPS. She was a member of Trinity United Church.

Visitation for the late Mary Hamilton will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at the Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Funeral service to celebrate the life of Mary will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Rosemary Godin officiating. A light lunch will be served in the funeral home reception area following the service.

A private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.

Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Dave : Sorry to hear the news of your mom’s passing , Mary loved her T.V Bingo and I always enjoyed my visits with her . A wonderful lady with a beautiful smile and for the record lets hope that she will “Shut the front door! ” when she gets to Heaven . Rest in peace dear Mary .
