We the family of the late James William Mitchell, age 68, announce with great sadness the passing of a wonderful, loving, caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He died on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Halifax on July 3, 1950, Jimmy was the son of the late John and Doris (Wright) Mitchell.

Jimmy was an avid pool shooter, dart player and hunter. He enjoyed music and dancing. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Harriet (Munro) Mitchell; sons, Tony (Shelley), Porter’s Lake and John (Lisette), Florence; Jimmy’s life was his grandchildren, Keisha, Chloe, Taya, Cameron and Chessa; brothers, Dave, Cheticamp and George (Emily) Margaree Valley; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by brothers, Herbert and Bruce; sisters, Doris, Barbara, Patricia and Lorraine.

Visitation for the late Jimmy Mitchell will be on Friday, September 14, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Wilson United Church Hall, Margaree Centre.  Memorial service to celebrate the life of Jimmy will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. in Wilson United Church with Rev. Alicia Cox officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date.

Family flowers only, donations in memory of Jimmy may be made to Wilson United Church Building Fund or Hospice Palliative Care, Baddeck.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Never easy to part with our loved ones Harriet and family. My sympathy to you all. My thoughts go back to when my son died and Jimmy came to his wake…him not well himself,yet he set himself aside to attend the wake. So kind and thoughtful,so heartwarming.
