Coxheath

It is with sadness that we, the family announce the sudden passing of Glenn Anthony Chiasson, age 60, on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the summer bungalow in Boisdale.

Born in Sydney, Glenn was the son of Gordon ‘Bud’ Chiasson and the late Ethel (MacDonald) Chiasson of Coxheath.

Besides his father, Glenn is survived by sisters, Linda (Malcolm) MacLeod, Howie Centre, Nancy Chiasson, Coxheath and brother, Mark (Kim) Chiasson, Halifax; nieces and nephews, Brad (Danielle) and Kelli MacLeod, Jack and Evan Chiasson, and Hannah Chiasson. Glenn will also be remembered by his grand-nephews, Hunter and Tucker MacLeod.

Glenn attended Vocational School in Sydney and spent many years working here in Cape Breton and Alberta as a mechanic. He later changed careers and became a certified Pipefitter and was a proud Local 488 member. He worked in ‘Fort Mac’ before returning home in 2014.

The last several years, Glenn kept himself busy repairing small motors for his family. He spent time at his 'Shop' and at the garage, his favourite place in Boisdale.

Glenn provided constant amusement for his family, especially his brother-in-law, Malcolm and nephews, with his wit and sense of humour. We will miss him!

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Glenn Anthony Chiasson will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Saturday, July 21, 2018. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4:30-5:30 p.m. with service to follow at 5:30 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the funeral home reception area following the memorial service. Private family interment will take place at a later date.

Donations in memory of Glenn may be made to the SPCA-Cape Breton Branch for he was a big animal lover, especially dogs. Glenn spoiled his fur buddies, Lenny, Lexie, Tia and all other family dogs.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

Send an online condolence.
