It is with deep sadness that we, the family of Pat Draper, announce her passing on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the An Cala unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born on March 29, 1947 in Sydney, Pat was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (MacDonald) Merner.

Pat graduated from St. Martha's School of Nursing and Dalhousie University's School of Public Health Nursing. Upon graduation, Pat worked in hospital nursing and public health nursing in Canso and Amherst. She lived in Dartmouth most of her life and returned to Sydney upon retirement in 2012.

Pat spent life, after the death of her husband, Chris, in service to others working and caring for the elderly. She will be remembered by her family and friends for being caring, loving and helping those in need.

Pat is survived by her two brothers, Dennis (Suzanne) and Tom (Karen); sister, Molly (Joseph) Maroun; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband, Chris, and step-son, David. 

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Pat Draper will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Wednesday, May 2, 2018.

A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1-2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m.in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.

Light refreshments will be served in the funeral home reception area following the memorial service.

Private family interment will take place at a later in Dartmouth.

Donations in memory of Pat may be made to the Cancer Patient Care Fund – Cape Regional Hospital Foundation or a charity of one’s choice. 

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

So sorry to see that Pat has passed away. David and my son Lance were friends in school in Dartmouth. Sorry to see that Chris and David have passed as well. My husband Bob passed away two weeks ago today. I like to imagine them all renewing acquaintances and catching up on old times. Prayers to her remaining family members.
