With sadness we announce the passing of Florence Gillis, age 63, on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born on Sept. 3, 1953 in Sydney, Florence was the daughter of the late Richard James and Mary Margaret (MacDougall) Gillis.
Florence lived a simple life. She loved to go shopping and watching TV especially, football games. Florence will be remembered by her family for being determined and very strong-willed. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Florence is survived by her sister, Adelaide; brothers, Steve (Mary) and Bill (Ann); sisters-in-law, Rose, Linda and Kaye; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by her sisters, Kaye and Ann Jane, brothers, Richard, John, Charles and a niece, Debbie.
A private family memorial graveside service to celebrate the life of Florence Gillis will be held in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks at a later date.
Donations in memory of Florence may be made to the Cove Guest Home or a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to take this opportunity to express much thanks and appreciation to the Braemore Home staff and Cove Guest Home staff for the love and affection given to our dear sister, Florence during her time of need.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
