James Freddrick ‘Freddie’ Burns, 36, Sydney Mines, passed away Sunday, Aug. 5, 2012, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his family by his side.

Born in Halifax, Freddie was the son of the late James Laurie Burns and Heather Jean MacAskill (Christie).

Freddie was a brother and uncle, who was dearly cared for by his family and friends. He was a man with a huge heart and had lots of love to give to all of us. Most of all, Freddie was the type of fella who would give anyone the shirt off his back. Freddie will be always loved and he will always be missed.

Freddie is survived by brothers, Laurie MacAskill (Darlene MacAskill), John MacAskill (Denise MacAskill), Launzo Burns (Lisa Dixon); nieces, Jessica MacAskill, Heather MacAskill, Jamie MacAskill, Jenna MacAskill and Ellanor Burns and nephews, John MacAskill, Norman MacAskill and Michael MacAskill.

Visitation for the late James Freddrick ‘Freddie’ Burns will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Englishtown. Funeral service to celebrate the life of Freddie will be held on Friday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. in St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dianne Kempt officiating. Interment will take place in the Bayview Cemetery, Englishtown.
Donations in memory of Freddie may be made to St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church, Englishtown, or charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
