It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Margaret (Lundrigan) Bates, announce her sudden passing on Sunday, February 18, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. 

Margie was born on September 1, 1954 to the late John and Tena (Boudreau) Lundrigan.


Margie is survived by her loving husband and soul mate of 44 years, Michael Bates; her children, Gina (Joey MacFarlane) and Lisa (Dwayne) Moore, and the pride of her life, her grandchildren, Bryden MacFarlane, Kaeghan MacFarlane and Caitlyn Moore.  She is also survived by her brother, George (Peggy) Lundrigan; sisters-in-law, Juanita Bates, Lucy (George) Lewis, Eva (Tom) Brushett and Gerardine Bates, as well as her many nieces, nephews, family and friends.


Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Bryson Moore.


A special thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital staff on 4A and the Palliative Care Team on 4E, as well as a special Thank you to Dr. Critchley, your professionalism and compassion was second to none.


As per Margie's request there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Alban's Church on Thursday,
February 22, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Archdeacon Brenda Drake officiating. There will be a reception to follow at the Pier Community Funeral Home.

Donations in Margie's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
