Our mother, Mary Young passed away on Monday, June 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness.

Mary’s final years were difficult, but she faced each day with courage and grace, with the support and unwavering love of her family.

Mom was born May 21, 1924, to the late Allan and Gertrude MacInnis in Donkin.  She was the middle child of 14 and is the last surviving member.

Mom lived a good, long life, beginning in the Victorian Age. During her life she has seen the world go through many changes. The only thing that never wavered was her faith in God and the love for her family.  Mom worked from dawn to dusk to raise seven children.

Mom lived by her mantra “Gods will be done”. Her strong faith in God helped her weather many storms, most notably the loss of her beloved husband, Weldon and her adored sons, Allan and Greg.

Mom always prayed ” Lord help me to remember that nothing is going to happen today that you and I together cannot handle.” This will be our prayer as we grieve her loss.

Left to mourn Mom are her children, Hilary, Judi MacLeod (Brian), Brian (Norma), Tom (Debbie, dec’d) and Dan (Dale). She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, Dee Dee Young and Brenda Young, as well as 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

The family would like to express our sincere thank you to the management and staff of the Cove Guest Home where Mom spent her last 10 years. She loved it like her home away from home.

There will be no visitation for the late Mary Young. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church, Whitney Pier with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment will take place on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.

Donations in memory of Mary may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
