The family of Richard Young regret to announce his passing on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at home in Whitney Pier.
Rick was born on July 25, 1955, to the late Vince and Bertha (Farrell) Young of Whitney Pier.
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Janet (Poole) Young; daughter, Heather (Chris) Atwater, Alliston, Ontario; grandchildren, Logan and Madison Atwater; sister-in-law, Beverly Young; brother-in-law, Allan Poole (Jeanie); niece, Miranda (Paul) Kourtsidis, Owen Sound, Ontario; nephews, Andrew (Kaitlyn) Young, Halifax, Robert (Becky), Sydney, Bradley Poole, and Jonathan Poole, Sydney.
Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Young, and brother, Allen Young.
Rick was a proud truck driver who travelled across Canada most of his life. He enjoyed dancing, skating and getting together with family and friends. He will be remembered for his honesty, generosity and sense of humour.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Richard Young will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 1 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating.
Donations in memory of Richard may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
