Sydney

With heavy hearts we, the family regret to announce the passing of our father, pillar, and friend, David Scott Grant, who passed peacefully on Monday April 6, 2026, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, at the age of 57.

David was born on February 1, 1969, in Sydney to the late John Samuel and Mary Evangeline Grant.

David is survived by his two children, Brandon and Meghan; brothers, Stephen and Randy (Mary Ann); sister, Cheryl; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, David was also predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Gary.

David always worked hard as a long-haul driver working between Canada and the United States for most of his career. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, hunting, riding motorcycles and even getting his hands dirty under his many vehicles. David was also a beloved owner to his dog, Max.

Although there was no job David cherished more than the job he had raising his loving son, Brandon. He worked so hard as a father to raise a great young man who became the full-time caretaker and support system for his father.

Our family would like to thank Brandon for his loving support during the decline of David’s health. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, doctors and staff of unit 4C at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the Critical Care Unit for your compassion given to David during his difficult time of need.

Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of David Grant will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
