Gord Farr, age 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026, at home in Sydney.

Born in Sydney on October 14, 1956, Gord was the son of the late Arthur and Aletha (Dwyer) Farr.

Gord spent his life in Sydney, where he built a home centered on kindness, patience, and family. In his earlier years, he worked at the Delta before making a life-changing decision to dedicate himself to caring for others. Alongside his beloved wife, Julia, Gord became a foster father for 25 years, opening their home and hearts to many children. This role was not just something he did—it was who he was. His compassion, steadiness, and quiet guidance left a lasting impact on every life he touched.

Gord was a devoted father to Tracey Farr (partner, Ryan), Jim Farr (partner, Amanda Farrell), Robert Farr (partner, Courtney), Angie Gill (partner, Andrew), and Sidney Gould (wife, Rose). He was a proud grandfather to Hilary, Chloe, Kody, Jacob, Lucas, Reb, Brauch, Martin, Maverick, Taylor, Madelyn, Christian, as well as many foster children who became part of his extended family. Gord is also survived by his sisters, Heather and Marie (partner, Marina).

Besides his parents, Gord was predeceased by his grandson, Nicholas Gordon Farr; brothers, John (Joanne), Tom (Cecilia), Roland (Sandra), and George (Jess); sisters, Mae (Gord), Sandra (Steve), Christine (Kenny), Betty (Gerry), Shirley (Wayne), and his beloved pets, Oscar and Autumn Lee.

In his younger days, Gord enjoyed fishing and hunting. He shared a lifelong bond with his best friend, Wayne Moore, and the two were inseparable on countless fishing trips. As the years went on, he found great joy in collecting—coins, Avon cologne bottles, hockey cards, and small decorative ornaments—each item carefully chosen and meaningful to him. He was a quiet man, but his actions spoke loudly. One of the things everyone loved about him was his quick-witted humor and friendly sarcasm, which could light up any room. Gord showed his love not through words alone, but through presence, care, and an unshakable devotion to his family.

His wife, Julia, was his world. God truly made them for each other, and their love was the foundation of a home filled with warmth, patience, and generosity. Gord’s gentle nature, playful spirit, and deep devotion to his family, grandchildren, and foster children will be remembered always. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who knew him.
