Edward began his career with DEVCO and worked at Lingan/Point Aconi and the Central Shops. During this time, he worked to receive his Millwright certification. Following the closing of the mines, he did various shutdowns in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario, finishing his career at Ontario Hydro nuclear plant. Edward was a proud member of Millwrights Local 2309.
After his retirement, you could find Edward on South Bar wharf mackerel fishing, in his “barn” forging metal, repairing and creating things or tilling his vegetable garden.

A heartfelt thank you to Vicky RN, the doctors from palliative care and the many nurses from the VON for the care given to Edward during his time of need.
As requested by Edward, there will be no visitation or service.
Donations in memory of Edward may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.

The first 35 years of my life would have been uneventful were it not for Eddie. After having my head crushed with a ball peen hammer while working on a fence, I had a long road trying to understand basic concepts. Eddie was an avid reader; it was not uncommon for him to be reading two or three books at a time. One of those books was called Dune, the trilogy. I struggled, but he would emphasize certain themes in the book, and gradually I began to form my own concepts. He understood basic frontal lobe commands. This process took years; I owe Eddie my mental acuity, agility in playing chess, and, of course, how to drink. Not enough room here for a complete rundown, suffice to say so long, my friend. Let me if you reach the event horizon.
