Edward C. Nicholson, born on September 1955, passed away peacefully at home in Victoria Mines on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Edward was predeceased by his parents, Bernard and Catherine (Carrigan) Nicholson, New Waterford.
Edward began his career with DEVCO and worked at Lingan/Point Aconi and the Central Shops. During this time, he worked to receive his Millwright certification. Following the closing of the mines, he did various shutdowns in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Ontario, finishing his career at Ontario Hydro nuclear plant. Edward was a proud member of Millwrights Local 2309.
After his retirement, you could find Edward on South Bar wharf mackerel fishing, in his “barn” forging metal, repairing and creating things or tilling his vegetable garden.
Edward is survived by his wife of 43 years Ann Norene (George); two sons, Robert (Nina), Aylesford, and Kenzie (Natasha), Greenwood; sister, Cindy (Ernie), New Waterford and brothers, Kevin (Noreen), South Bar, and Dale (Efsevia), New Brunswick.
A heartfelt thank you to Vicky RN, the doctors from palliative care and the many nurses from the VON for the care given to Edward during his time of need.
As requested by Edward, there will be no visitation or service.
Donations in memory of Edward may be made to Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
