Monica Marie Hominick (Humeniuk) passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the beloved daughter of Nathaniel and Rita MacLellan.

Monica leaves behind her devoted husband of 50 years, Wayne Humeniuk; cherished children: son, Craig Hominick and his fiancée, Samantha, of LaSalle, Manitoba, daughter, Dayna Humeniuk, of Alberta, and daughter, Kyla Murphy and her husband, Aidan, of Castlebar, Ireland. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Amelia, Annie, Rhys, and Chace.

Monica is also survived by her brother, Kerry MacLellan (Mary Blanchard); brothers-in-law, Harold Kyte, Steve Humeniuk and Daniel Humeniuk (Cathy); and sisters-in-law, Heather MacLellan, Donna Barrington (Ed), and Shirley Ings. She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.

Monica was predeceased by her sister, Colleen Kyte; brother, Hal MacLellan; sister-in-law, Frances MacLellan, and brother-in-law, Harold Ings.

Monica spent a number of years working as a healthcare worker, a role that suited her compassionate heart. She enjoyed working in the Alzheimer’s Unit at Golden Links Lodge in Winnipeg where she was a strong advocate for the elderly, whom she loved dearly. She ensured each resident was treated with kindness, respect, and dignity—because that was the kind of person she was.

Monica was an extraordinary woman who lit up every room with her smiling face and vibrant personality. She loved visiting her family and all her relatives; they meant the world to her, and she spoke highly of each and every one. She had a special relationship with her sister, Colleen; her brothers, Hal and Kerry; her sister-in-law, Frances and all her nieces and nephews, who adored her deeply. Monica was also an avid reader and took great joy in cooking and baking for her loved ones.

She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Monica will be remembered for the warmth she brought into every space, her unwavering love for her family, and the countless ways she touched the lives of those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved so deeply.
