Sydney
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we, the family announce the passing of Raymond Arthur ‘Farmer’ Dawe II, who left us peacefully on Wednesday, October 1st, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was a man who lived with humor at the center of his life. Known for his quick wit and endless jokes, he had a way of lifting people’s spirits and making everyone around him smile. His laughter was a gift he freely gave, and it will echo forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
For 35 years, Raymond dedicated himself to Sobeys, where his hard work, kindness, and sense of humor made a lasting impression on colleagues and friends. Beyond his career, he found true joy in cooking meals for his family, going for long walks, and being a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His love for his family was constant and unwavering.
Raymond is predeceased by his parents, Annie Winnifred (Kingsbury) and Raymond I; his brother, Bill and his sister, Jean.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Valerie (Nordine) Dawe; daughter, Nicole (Peter) and their children, Curtis and Jacob; son, Raymond III (Ann), and granddaughter, Emma, who was the light of his life. He will also be remembered fondly by his guardian angel, Diane Nordine, and faithful cat, Sammy.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff in the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the exceptional care they provided to Raymond during his time of need.
Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Raymond Dawe will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.), Whitney Pier on Sunday, October 5, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12 noon to 2 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. in the All Faith Chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Raymond may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
