Main-a-Dieu

With great sadness we, the family regret to announce the passing of our father, Edward Joseph Hall, age 78, of Main-à-Dieu, on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Edward was known affectionately as Eddie to those close to him, he was admired for his generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Born on August 18, 1947, in Main-à-Dieu, Eddie spent his life deeply rooted in the community, he so much loved. Over the years, he worked in a variety of trades that reflected both his skill and dedication. From carpentry to boat building alongside his father, Eddie’s hands helped shape the tools and vessels that supported coastal life. Eventually, he found his calling as a lobster fisherman, a role he embraced for many years with the support and partnership of his wife and children.

Eddie was a loving father to Todd (Tricia), Jason, and Aileen (Lawrence) Lahey, all of whom reside in Main-à-Dieu. He was also a devoted brother to Glen (Diane), Kelly (Lori), Reggie (Eileen) and brother in-law, Lorne Primmer. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jenna, Kelsey, Sacha, Jaline, Dailyn, and great-grandson Carter; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who cherished his presence in their lives.

Eddie was predeceased by his beloved wife, Carolyn; sisters, Sharon and Linda; brothers; Graham, John ‘Winky’, and parents, John and Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ Hall and stepmother, Mary Hall.

Eddie was a lifetime member of the Metro Rifle & Pistol Club, where he and his children would spend some weekends. His love for animals was evident throughout his life, from horses to dogs and he shared a special bond with his loyal pups, Jack and Gizmo.

Eddie will be remembered not only as a hardworking man, but also as a kind-hearted soul whose warmth touched many. He leaves behind a large circle of close family friends who will miss him dearly. Eddie will also be leaving behind his karaoke buddy, Jolene, whom he thought the world of.

May Eddie’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him. Special thanks going out to 4 East, North Sydney Hospital, and the staff in palliative care unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital, for the exceptional care that was given to him during his time of need.

Visitation and memorial Mass to celebrate the life of Edward ‘Eddie’ Joseph Hall will be held in the Immaculate Conception Church, Main-à-Dieu, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon with the memorial Mass to follow at 12 noon in the church with Fr. Ikechukwu Alphonsus Iwuji officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery, Main-à-Dieu.
