With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the family of Richard Malcolm Dassonville, announces his passing on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Malvina (Lamoine) and Lucien Dassonville, and his son, Richie Dassonville.
Richard is survived by his wife, June Dassonville; daughter, Barb Dassonville (Johnny); grandchildren, Amanda (Eric), Amber, and Mitchell (Shayelyn) Dassonville; great-grandchild, Kiara ‘Kiki’ Dassonville; sisters, Lucyann (Shan), and Gail Dassonville; nieces, nephews, and his best friend and cousin, Brother Matthys.
Richard was a strong, kind, and caring man with a beautiful soul. He lived with quiet strength and unwavering love for his family, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Richards legacy lives on through his family and in the countless lives he touched with his strength, kindness, and loving heart. He was a proud coal miner who also loved hunting, fishing, and reading western novels.
In keeping with Richard’s wishes, cremation has already taken place and there will be no service or visitation.
Donations in memory of Richard may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
